It cracks me up AND drives me crazy that Rowan gives its yarn color-names like "sour" and "liqueur" and "pouty." I am feel SUPER POUTY right now because I finally got the 4-ply Cotton I ordered (in "cheeky" no less) and now cannot find the pattern so that I can cast on for the Clover Lace Wrap in SnB Nation. I am also a little hacked off (oddly, NOT a Rowan shade name) that the bag of Cheeky that I received was a much brighter pink than the Cheeky that was already in the store. The store Cheeky was a very laid-back flower pink that was just bright enough without the word "intense" coming to mind. My bag of Cheeky is BRIGHT. I'd still wear it, but it really changes the way I feel about the whole project, and it's just bright enough to be skirting the border of "novelty garment" territory. I was trying to use this wrap as my stepping stone to becoming a Sweet English Rose, and instead I'm running headlong down the alleyway to trollop-hood. I exaggerate. But still. I'd show you a picture but I am still "hacked off."
I also used the term "boo-yah" to refer to knitting for the first time today. I fixed a problem in someone else's knitting (4-ply lace!) that I had about 20% confidence that I could fix. She was so happy that I was even trying (I got two hugs of joy!) that I pretended that it was a "piece of cake." There was a solid half hour (agonizing) in which I thought I had, instead of fixing, irreparably harmed the piece, and I tried staring out the window and thinking of my abyssmal love life to cheer me up. I eventually used my friggin' brain and Ye Olde Tryalle and Errour to set things right again. I walked away feeling nigh invincible. It reminded me of the internets-based quiz I took yesterday, based on the MBTI, that concluded that I was an INTJ, and that I needed to figure out how things worked and how they could work better. Now if only I could make my millions figuring out other people's knitting problems, I'd be set. Then I'd open the world's best yarn shop and all my knitting friends (online and IRL) would have access to the VIP lounge upstairs where every hour is happy hour and the bartenders are HOT 22-year-old single straight men (and maybe some cute chix for the gay girls). So, yes, the point is, I said "boo-yah" and meant it, and I also said "I OWN YOU" and realised why some people enjoy playing sports. It's all about the victory dance.
